Five former Hardeeville officials have been indicted for misconduct in office today by a Jasper County grand jury.
Former city administrator R. Shane Haynes, former Hardeeville Police Chief James Hubbard, former Hardeeville Fire Chief John Ekaitis, former police lieutenant Eric Washington and his wife, former treasurer Santesia Henderson were indicted today, according to court records.
The indictments say all five abused their positions by "engaging in acts and omissions" in breach of their duties.
The indictments do not outline specific acts of misconduct. All of the alleged breaches occurred between 2005 and 2006.
The state Attorney General's Office is handling the cases.
