Haley comments on 1st Congressional District results

Published: March 20, 2013

Gov. Nikki Haley, who did not endorse a candidate in Tuesday's GOP primary, applauded candidates' efforts Wednesday.

"We had a great slate of conservative primary candidates running for Tim Scott's seat, and the governor is grateful to each of them for offering themselves as public servants," said Rob Godfrey, Haley's spokesman. "We have strong run-off candidates, and, as the governor has said all along, she has confidence in the voters of the first district -- they will send someone to Washington who fights for the same conservative values Gov. Haley and Tim Scott share."
