A man and woman suspected of snatching several purses across the Lowcountry were arrested Saturday, according to the Beaufort Police Department.

Rodney Hall, 26, is charged with purse snatching and financial transaction-card theft in a Feb. 23 case. An elderly woman was loading packages into her car on Port Republic Street when Hall allegedly grabbed her purse and drove away.

Surveillance video showed Hall and Christie Brown, 29, using the woman's credit and debit cards, police said.

They are both charged in a similar crime March 9 in the parking lot of a Lady's Island store, where a purse was stolen from a woman's cart as she loaded groceries into her car.

Police in Pooler, Ga., also have obtained warrants for another incident on March 10, and Beaufort police previously reported the purse snatchings could be related to a crime in Bluffton on March 8.
