Column opens up eyes to lost island history

Published: March 18, 2013

I want to express my thanks on behalf of my family for David Lauderdale's wonderful Feb. 24 article "Cemetery at the divide of sea island cultures gets new lease on life." His columns are always enlightening and spiced with local lore. However, I think this was one for the ages. For years, our family has tried to promote the family's sentiments and the historic importance of the Braddock's Point Cemetery at Harbour Town. Thanks to Wendell Grayson, a visitor to Hilton Head Island who believes as we do, the cemetery is more prominently preserved. Thanks to Mr. Lauderdale's exceptional style of telling a story, our family and the island community may proudly boast a part of island history heretofore unknown to many.
