A Beaufort man was airlifted to Charleston late Saturday night with non-life-threatening injuries after his car overturned on Hilton Head Island.

Daniel Lenik, 29, was driving west on Jonesville Road on Hilton Head around midnight when he ran off the left side of the road and lost control of the vehicle, which overturned.

Lenik was taken by helicopter to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

The car's passenger, Jose Sanchez, 34, of Bluffton was taken by ambulance to Savannah Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

Sanchez was wearing his seat belt. It was not known whether Lenik was wearing a seat belt, according to an S.C. Highway Patrol report.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation by Highway Patrol.
