The University of South Carolina Beaufort men's and women's track teams set 10 more school records Friday at the Georgia Southern Invitational in Statesboro, Ga..
Freshman Domonique Harris was one of many standouts for USCB, breaking his own school-record in the 200 meters (22.54) and setting a new mark while winning the 100 (11.19).
Two more individuals set school records while winning their events -- sophomore Anthony Vecchio in the men's 800 (1:55.84) and sophomore Ty'Chelle Freeman in the women's shot put (13.36m/43-10). The Sand Sharks also won the men's 4x100 and 4x400 relay races, with the 4x100 team setting a school mark of 42.97 seconds.
Freshman Josh Roper set his fourth school record with a second-place throw in the hammer (27.09m/88-10.5), and freshman JaCarl Safford finished second while beating his own mark in the 110-meter hurdles (16.17).
Sophomore Melissa Carder took fifth in the 1500 with a record time of 5:09.80, Ciera Love beat her own school record in the 100 (13.41) and the women's 4x100 relay team of Love, Becky Hayden, Pamela Robinson and Ashlee Eady broke its own school mark with a time of 51.51.
The Sand Sharks are back in action next Saturday, traveling to Columbia, S.C., for the Weems Baskin Invitational.
