America needs leader who will cut spending

info@islandpacket.comMarch 15, 2013

Our president continues to believe that we need more taxation and that we have no spending problem. Sequestration was a good thing, but not large enough.

I think we all know that there is at least 10 percent to 15 percent waste across all functions of the federal government. A president with executive credentials would have simply ordered all departments of the federal government to find 10 percent to 15 percent savings in their budgets, including the military and the Environmental Protection Agency.

Actually, the EPA could be cut by at least 30 percent or 40 percent, and we would benefit from reduced energy costs as well.

Reducing the benefits and salaries of federal employees and members of the Senate and House of Representatives to levels comparable to those in private industry would further reduce our costs. Those who serve us should not be better paid than we for comparable work.

To better serve this country, President Barack Obama needs to forego his plunge toward socialism and get back to principles that encourage our capitalist instincts to expand businesses and hire people who will contribute to the wealth of the country. Government workers do not increase the wealth of the country; they are a drag on the economy.

In the mission to increase the wealth of this nation, Obama has been an incredibly incompetent executive, as his credentials and record show.
