EVENTS Freshman orientation for current eighth-graders is March 20. There will be science expo featuring middle and high school student projects March 21. The community is welcome to view the projects from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The annual Junior Class Community Yard Sale begins at 8 a.m. March 23 in the school gym.

ACHIEVEMENTS Senior Zoe Farley competed in the International Culinary Schools "Art Institutes Best Teen Chef Competition"
March 9 in Charleston. Zoe received an "early decision" and has been accepted to the Art Institute of Charleston, planning to major in culinary management.
BEAUFORT MIDDLE SCHOOL
ACHIEVEMENTS The Gryphon Concert Band received superior ratings March 6 in the Beaufort County School District's adjudicated concert band festival at Bluffton High School. The band, comprising advancing seventh- and eighth-graders, received two ratings of excellent" and two ratings of "superior." The band is led by Dana Scaglione of Beaufort. The school principal is Carole Ingram. Beaufort Middle School was declared "Palmetto's" Finest" Middle School in Spring 2012.

ACHIEVEMENTS Student Michelle Gee was selected for a trip to Mercy College's International Relations & Diplomacy Summer Program in New York City. Gee will attend July 15-19, where she will participate in discussions and guest lectures with diplomacy experts addressing the world's current events. She also will visit the United Nations and country missions.
