Annual Shamrock Run taking place on Hilton Head Island this weekend

More than 350 participants are expected for the 18th annual Hilton Head Island Shamrock Run on Saturday.

The Irish-themed 5K Run and Health Walk, which begins at 8 a.m., starts on Pope Avenue in front of New York City Pizza at Heritage Plaza and takes runners and walkers down Pope, North Forest Beach Drive and then Lagoon Road to the finish area at Coligny Plaza.

Following the race, New York City Pizza will host the Shamrock Run Block Party featuring the awards ceremony, pizza, refreshments, music and door prizes.

The cost is $30 and the race benefits The Mental Health Association of Beaufort County.

Late registration/Packet pick-up: 4:30-6 p.m. Friday, 7-7:45 a.m. Saturday at New York City Pizza.

Want to help? Volunteers are needed for course management, water stations, refreshments, registration and finish line. Volunteers receive a T-shirt and refreshments and are eligible to win door prizes.
