  • Candice Glover's fans can support the "American Idol" contestant at a rally today in Beaufort.

Film crews from the popular FOX television show are coming to the city to film the rally at noon at Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park. Fans are encouraged to bring signs. The footage will air on the show on a later date.

Film crews also will record a rally at Beaufort High School -- Glover is a 2008 graduate -- today, an event that is not open to the public.

Glover, 23, is a St. Helena Island native who has advanced to the top 10 of this season's "American Idol."

America has voted, and it loves Candice Glover.

The St. Helena Island singer moved into the Top 9 on Thursday night's "American Idol." Judge Randy Jackson called her version Wednesday of "I Who Have Nothing" by Ben E. King the best performance of the season.

"Idol" host Ryan Seacrest opened Thursday's results show by announcing that Glover was one of the top 3 contestants this week and thus, safe until next week.

Glover's fan base is growing quickly. Before Wednesday's show, she had just over 10,000 followers on Twitter. When the results show started Thursday, that number had grown to 18,000.

On Thursday, the show announced it will have a "judges' save" this year. Introduced in season 8, it allows judges to overturn viewer votes to "save" a contestant. It requires a unanimous decision by the four-judge panel. That contestant would then move on in the competition. Two contestants would be eliminated the following week.

St. Louis native Curtis Finch Jr., was eliminated Thursday. He sang R. Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly," in an unsuccessful attempt to be "saved."

Glover said recently that Finch, along with Burnell Taylor, are her best friends on the show.

Glover and Taylor will perform again in the Top 9 next week. The show airs from 8 to 10 p.m. Wednesday.
