Pitching leads Clemson baseball team to 3-1 win over Charleston Southern

CLEMSON -- First-year pitchers Matthew Crownover, Zack Erwin and Kyle Schnell combined to allow just five hits and one unearned run Wednesday afternoon to lead Clemson to a 3-1 win over Charleston Southern at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

The Tigers (10-5) improved to 17-0 all-time against Charleston Southern.

Crownover (2-0) earned the win by tossing six scoreless innings. He gave up just three hits and no walks with two strikeouts. Erwin allowed one unearned run in 1 2-3 innings, then Schnell recorded his first career save by pitching 1 1-3 hitless innings.

Andrew Tomasovich (0-3) pitched a complete game, but got the loss for the Buccaneers (8-10).

Tyler Krieger had an RBI double, one of only four hits on the day for Clemson. Steve Wilkerson also had an RBI.

Bobby Ison went 2 for 4 with a double and RBI for Charleston Southern.
