South Carolina hitters knock around USC Upstate, 12-3

Fifth-ranked South Carolina recorded 14 hits, with nine different players tallying at least one hit on the way to a 12-3 victory over USC Upstate on Tuesday night at Carolina Stadium in Columbia.

Joey Pankake went 3 for 3 with a RBI, two runs scored and extended his hitting streak to eight games to lead the Gamecocks (14-2) at the plate. TJ Costen added three hits -- two doubles -- and three runs scored. Max Schrock was 2 for 3 with three RBIs and a pair of runs scored. LB Dantzler and George Iskdenderian drove in two runs apiece.

Freshman left-hander Jack Wynkoop (3-0) pitched 2 2-3 innings of relief for the win. He allowed one run on four hits. Senior Patrick Sullivan pitched 3 1-3 scoreless innings of relief for his first save of the year.

USC Upstate starting pitcher Chris Cox (1-2) took the loss. He worked two innings and allowed three runs on six hits with three walks.

Brandon Patterson and Daniel Seeba had two hits each for USC Upstate (10-5).
