Police seek information in Beaufort, Bluffton, Lady's Island purse-snatching cases

Published: March 12, 2013

Beaufort police are asking the public's assistance in identifying two people believed to be connected to multiple purse snatchings in the county.

A man in a gray or silver Grand Marquis was involved in purse snatchings March 8 in Bluffton and March 9 at the Lady's Island Publix parking lot, police said.

The vehicle and a female suspect were caught on surveillance video using cards from the stolen purses. Police believe they are the same suspects who stole a purse Feb. 28 in downtown Beaufort and later used the credit cards.

Police say the snatchings are occurring at stores when women are holding their purses or leaving them in carts while loading vehicles.

Anyone with information can call Investigator George Erdel at 843-322-7958 or Investigator William Carter at 843-322-7966.
