I read in your newspaper that former Gov. Mark Sanford's chance of winning a congressional seat is considered to be very good, primarily because of his name recognition and his popular stance on government spending.
The very notion of this man winning a place in our Congress boggles my mind. I don't know much at all about the other candidates who are running, but I feel pretty sure many, if not all of them, did not mar their careers with $74,000 in ethics fines and have an affair that took them away from their duties and ended their marriages. Sanford claims he wants to tackle our debt issues, but the cynic in me thinks he needs a job and likes the pay and exceptional benefits of Congress.
Let's not be led like sheep simply because we have heard of him. Let's give another candidate an opportunity to serve. I feel certain anyone else would offer a higher level of morality and ethical behavior than our past and disgraced governor.
