Sophomore Boulware smashes two HRs, has five RBIs

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Sophomore catcher Garrett Boulware went 4 for 5 with two home runs, five RBIs and three runs scored to lead Clemson to a 10-5 win over No. 8 N.C. State on Friday at Doak Field.

Clemson (8-4 overall, 1-0 ACC) trailed 4-0 but put up three runs in the fourth inning and five runs in the fifth against all-America left-hander Carlos Rodon to take the lead for good.

Daniel Gossett struck out nine in 6 2/3 innings to earn the win. He gave up five hits and two earned runs. Kyle Schnell closed out the win, allowing one hit and one run in the final 2 1-3 innings.

Jon McGibbon went 3 for 5 with an RBI in Clemson's 11-hit attack.

Will Nance and Trea Turner hit homers for the Wolfpack (11-3, 0-1).

The second game of the three-game series is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday.
