Hilton Head Island Middle School's Area in Motion will hold its annual walk from 10 to 11 a.m. today to raise money for community food banks.
Walkers will be asked to donate canned food items to participate in the event at the Hilton Head Island High School stadium.
Area in Motion, a community-service group that encourages people to live healthier lives, already has collected more than 2,700 canned items to donate to Hilton Head and Bluffton food banks, according to an organizer.
Those who donate four or more canned items will receive an Area in Motion wristband.
Local businesses will offer information on healthy living. The walk also will feature music and prizes.
