Prep Roundup, March 8: Ridgeland-Hardeeville girls soccer team gets first victory

Ridgeland-Hardeeville girls soccer team earned the first win in program history, 7-3, over Region 6-AA foe Burke.

Freshman Jackie Flores-Galvan scored six goals while senior Edna Bernal scored a goal and assisted on all six of Flores-Galvan's scores.

Hilton Head Christian Academy 11, Whale Branch 0: Allison Meeder had three goals and Macee Tamminen had two goals in the Eagles' domination of he Warriors.

Rebecca Meeder, Kellee Vest, Alyssa Lane, Abigail Bensch, Ashleigh McDaniel and Stevie DeSimone each scored a goal for the Eagles.

HHCA goalkeeper Mary Allan Dolyniuk got hurt 20 minutes in, so she split time with Logan Cherry. The Eagles host First Baptist at 4 p.m. today.

West Ashley 1, Beaufort High 0: West Ashley scored on first-half header and held on to beat the Eagles.

Kayla King had 15 saves for Beaufort High, which plays at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Savannah Country Day.

BOYS SOCCER

Ridgeland-Hardeeville 12, Burke 4: The Jaguars move to 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in Region 6-AA.

Ridgeland-Hardeevlle was led by Adrian Morales with three goals and two assists. Alex Morales added two goals and an assist, while sophomore Martin Sotelo had two goals and two assists and Saul Cordova scored a hat trick.

Kelin de Leon and Arnol Cesanaries added single goals, while Hector Guerrero (three assists) and Alan Cruz (one assist) furthered the Jaguars' cause.

Garrett Tech at Battery Creek, ppd.: The Dolphins found out an hour before kickoff that Garrett Tech has canceled its boys soccer team for this season.

The Dolphins will play a JV match against Academic Magnet today, and the varsity is back in action at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Ridgeland-Hardeeville.

BASEBALL

Beaufort High 12, West Ashley 4: Bradley Brown surrendered a pair of earned runs over five innings and David Tilton was 4 for 4 with three RBIs to led the Eagles (1-1).

Stephen Baggett was 2 for 4 with four RBIs, and Zach Brown went 2 for 4 with three RBIs.

Beaufort High hosts Hilton Head Island High at 7 p.m. Monday.

Hilton Head Christian Academy 16, St. Andrew's 1 (4 innings): Alec Ambrosic struck out eight and surrendered three hits over four innings on the mound and added two hits and three runs at the plate.

JD Reichel, Luke Higgs, Reese Dolyniuk, Ryan Barrett, Caleb Workman, Andy Ballard all had hits for the Eagles, and Dolyniuk three runs for the Eagles (2-0).

Hilton Head Christian hosts Christchurch (Va.) at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Thomas Heyward Academy 8, Colleton Prep 5: Seth Jones earned the win on the mound for the Rebels (1-1), while Colleton Prep booted the ball around.

Thomas Heyward hosts St. John's in Walterboro at 10 a.m. Saturday

Bishop England 7, Battery Creek 0: The Dolphins, who fall to 0-2, play March 12 at Colleton County.
