A man was beaten and robbed Wednesday at the Beaufort Downtown Marina on Bay Street, according to police.

The man reported he was with friends and met two strangers. He walked off with them at about 8:30 p.m., and they beat him and stole his wallet, which contained $40. It was not clear why the victim left with the men, Beaufort police said.

The victim's friends found him and took him to Beaufort Memorial Hospital. The incident was reported at 9:40 p.m.

The suspects were wearing jeans; one wore a dark shirt and the other a reddish shirt. Police believe it is an isolated incident.
