A University of South Carolina Beaufort student is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old boy, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
Xavier Jones, 20, is charged with felony criminal sexual conduct and is being held for prosecution at the Beaufort County Detention Center in lieu of $100,000 bond, according to the jail log.
The boy's mother reported the relationship to the Sheriff's Office, according to Sgt. Robin McIntosh. Several instances allegedly occurred in Jones' dorm room, McIntosh said.
USCB public information officer Candace Brasseur said the university is cooperating with the Sheriff's Office and will launch its own investigation to determine what action to take.
