Port Royal Town Council will discuss annexation of some land and renovations to the town's police department at a work shop this evening.
The council will meet at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall, 700 Paris Ave.
Discussion of the annexation and rezoning of about 13 acres is on the agenda. The land is on Robert Smalls Parkway near Castle Rock Road, and has been discussed by several committees between the city of Beaufort and Port Royal in the past two months.
One of the parcels, 599 Robert Smalls Parkway, is on Beaufort's side of a growth boundary that limits where the city and town can annex land. Officials are now considering changing that growth boundary to reflect where each municipality is growing and to make it easier for property owners to annex into either the city or town.
The town is also moving ahead with renovations to the police department, which will be paid for with money from a special tax district. Council is expected to vote March 13 to request quotes for the work.
Council will also discuss conveying about 75 feet of land on 12th Street so sidewalks can be built, and make appointments to several committees.
The issues on tonight's work session agenda are expected to be voted on at council's March 13 meeting.
