Hilton Head Island Town Council will consider the Fire & Rescue Division's 2013 strategic plan at its meeting this afternoon.
The plan includes a recommendation to ban outdoor burning and levy fines for excessive fire alarms.
Both topics were heavily debated by committees before coming before council.
Council tabled discussion of the plan at its Feb. 20 meeting after voting to yank support of the flyover project that would connect U.S. 278 to Bluffton Parkway.
The plan includes 56 procedural and capital project recommendations, including creating an off-island hurricane evacuation shelter for Fire & Rescue staff and equipment.
The Public Safety Committee approved the plan with some conditions, including removing a request for a fire-rescue boat, in early February.
Council meets at 4 p.m. at Town Hall, 1 Town Centre Court.
