Beaufort County treasurer partners with state DMV

Published: March 2, 2013

The Beaufort County Treasurer's Office has teamed with the S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles to allow the DMV to send residents' annual vehicle registration and payment receipts at the same time.

Previously, the documents were sent in separate envelopes, doubling the postage costs. The partnership will save the county about $41,000 a year, according to a news release.

The DMV will mail one envelope containing both the vehicle registration and vehicle property-tax receipt for each customer. The county is responsible for making sure tax and contact information is accurate.
