Prep Roundup, March 1: Seven area wrestlers earn North/South All-Star invitations

WRESTLING

North/South All-Star Matches: Seven Beaufort County wrestlers have been named to the North/South Wrestling All-Star Teams and will compete Friday and Saturday at North Myrtle Beach High School.

Hilton Head Island's Label Lewis, a two-time state champion and four-time all-state wrestler, and four Beaufort high wrestlers -- Trey Arant, Codrian Smalls, Clint Wright and Tyler Wilson -- were honored, as were Bluffton's Austin Farmer and Battery Creek's DeAndre Johnson.

Lewis and Johnson will wrestle for the 3-A/2-A South team, while Farmer and the Beaufort High athletes will compete for the 1-A/4-A team.

Schedule

Friday

6 p.m. -- 1-A/4-A North vs. 2-A/3-A South

6 p.m. -- 1-A/4-A South vs. 2-A/3-A North

Saturday

Noon -- Friday's winners wrestle and Friday's losers wrestle

GIRLS SOCCER

Pinewood Prep 2, Hilton Head Christian 1 (SO): Lexi Lainhart scored in the first half for Hilton Head Christian, but the Eagles eventually lost in a penalty-kick shootout. Pinewood won the shootout, 3-2.

Meaghan Gillis made eight saves in goal for the Eagles (0-2 overall, 0-1 region), and she saved three of the six penalty kicks she faced.

Hilton Head Christian plays again today, hosting Northwood Academy at 4 p.m.

BOYS TENNIS

Pinewood Prep 8, Beaufort Academy 0: The Eagles were swept on the road.
