The Beaufort County Board of Education has named Jeffery Moss the district's new superintendent, pending an agreement on an employment contract.

The school board voted 9-2 Thursday for Moss. Board members Laura Bush and Michael Rivers voted no.

Moss is currently the superintendent of the 9,850-student Lee County School District in Sanford, N.C.
