Prep Roundup, Feb. 28: Thomas Heyward softball team off to fast start

Thomas Heyward Academy 14, Dorchester Academy 0 (5 innings): A young lineup from Thomas Heyward got off to a strong start Wednesday, shutting out Dorchester Academy in a five-inning rout.

Freshman Selice Daley got the win, striking out 10 while allowing one walk and two hits. She also had a triple and an RBI.

Freshman Liz Bunton went 2 for 2 with a double and and RBI, freshman Sydney Glassberg was 2 for 3, and eighth-grader Haylee Wade was 2 for 4.

Freshman Morgan Peeples, eighth-grader Hannah Cannon and senior Taylor Ernestine each had one hit for the Rebels (1-0), who are off until they play in the SCISAA preseason tournament March 9 in Florence.
