United Way, USCB to celebrate Seuss

info@islandpacket.comFebruary 27, 2013

The United Way of the Lowcountry and the University of South Carolina Beaufort will celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday as part of a nationwide celebration of reading.
Local authors and USCB faculty will gather on the steps of the university's library at the Hilton Head Gateway campus in Bluffton and read from their favorite children's books.

As part of the local Read Across America project, United Way and USCB are seeking favorite quotes from favorite books from residents of Beaufort and Jasper counties. The quotes will be featured in social media postings about Read Across America. To share, email Ann-Marie Adams at AAdams@uwlowcountry.org.

United Way is also recruiting volunteers to tutor in eight elementary schools in Beaufort and Jasper counties. For details, call Jill Briggs at 843-837-2000.
