WASTE MANAGEMENT CAPA GOLF CHALLENGE: Where: Old Tabby Links, Spring Island; When: Noon, March 8; Cost: $175 per player, $660 per foursome; Registration deadline: March 1; Format: Texas Shamble; Notes: All players receive a round of golf with cart, practice range and balls, tee gift, box lunch, course beverages. An awards party will follow play. All proceeds go to the Child Abuse Prevention Association (CAPA) of Beaufort, a United Way agency. SEA RESCUE ST. PATRICK'S DAY TOURNAMENT: What: Beaufort Water Search & Rescue and Fripp Island Sea Rescue 10th annual tournament; When: 10 a.m., March 23 (registration starts 9 a.m.); Where: Ocean Creek Golf Course, Fripp Island; Format: 4-person teams, captain's choice; Cost: $75 per player (includes lunch); Notes: Prizes for top three gross and net scores. Hole-in-one prize, longest drive, closest to the pin, door prizes and mulligans. Tournament is a fundraiser for Beaufort Water Search & Rescue and Fripp Island Sea Rescue. The rescue units are made up of volunteers who serve the commercial and recreation boating community in emergencies. Donations are being accepted, and sponsorship opportunities are available. BILL VERITY CUP: What: Annual Pro-Am event to benefit Beaufort Area Boys & Girls Clubs; When: 1 p.m., April 29; Where: Sanctuary Golf Club on Cat Island; Format: Shamble (Texas Scramble); Cost: $125 per person or $500 per team of four amateurs and one pro; Notes: Players may invite a pro to play on their team, or a pro will be provided.
