A former Hampton County sheriff's deputy was indicted this week on charges of molesting a student, according to the 14th Circuit Solicitor's Office.
Larry Heyward, 52, was indicted Thursday by the Hampton County grand jury on one count of criminal sexual conduct with a minor between 11 and 14 years old, one count of committing a lewd act on a minor, and one count of misconduct in public office.
Heyward was a school resource officer when the incidents occurred. He was fired after a male student reported he had been abused on multiple occasions between August 2010 and December 2012.
The S.C. Law Enforcement Division's investigation continues, according to the Solicitor's Office.
