Everyone must sacrifice but federal government

info@islandpacket.comFebruary 22, 2013

Our federal government didn't think it was an issue to pull more than $60 billion a year from the economy by increasing taxes on the successful.

Our federal government didn't think it was an issue to eliminate the Social Security tax holiday and raise taxes by 2 percent on all workers, pulling an untold amount of money from the economy. But ask the government to reduce their spending increase by about 2.4 percent, and they would like us to believe the world will come to an end.

As the economy soured in past years, virtually every business that survived cut money from their spending, most far in excess of 2.4 percent. How about some demonstration of leadership in Washington by both parties, such as an executive order to cut 10 percent across the board. If private companies can cut spending, why not Washington?
