Thomas Viljac, Bluffton resident and director of the inaugural Face Your Fears Challenge, stands before "Mount Fujiami," the first obstacle participants will have to conquer Saturday at Palmetto Bluff's Moreland Landing in Bluffton.
The event offers two main courses -- the 10-mile, 25-obstacle Valor Course and the three-mile, 16-obstacle Courage Course. Those challenges start at 10 a.m. Children and families can also enjoy the quarter-mile Seal Pup Course; that event starts at 9 a.m. Proceeds from the races benefit four military charities: U.S. Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command Foundation, Brothers in Arms Foundation, Lone Survivor Foundation and the Navy Seal Warrior Fund.
