Prep Roundup, Feb. 21: Hilton Head High lacrosse coaches make regular-season debuts

The lacrosse season opened Wednesday for Hilton Head Island High School and its two new head coaches.

Dennis Daly's regular-season debut as the Seahawks boys coach went swimmingly, with Hilton Head High cruising to a 16-0 victory at Savannah Christian.

Kathy Marshall's first contest with the Seahawks didn't go as well, as Hilton Head High's girls took a 16-5 loss at Wando in their season opener.

Haley Matousek scored two goals in the loss, and Carson Kendrick added a goal and an assist. Tristyn Sheaffer and Katy Bautista also scored goals, and Abby Ogden had three assists. Goalkeeper Shayra Valdez made 24 saves.

The Hilton Head girls play again Saturday, traveling to Socastee for a 2 p.m. game.

Hilton Head High's boys host Dorman at 2 p.m. Saturday.
