Former Beaufort County Councilman W.R. "Skeet" Von Harten has endorsed Rep. Andy Patrick, R-Hilton Head Island, in his run for the 1st Congressional District.
In a statement, Von Harten said Patrick "exemplifies the Lowcountry values we need in Washington today, and I am confident he will do Beaufort County proud in Congress."

Von Harten has been the chairman and vice chairman of the Beaufort County Council. He's a retired U.S. Marine lieutenant colonel and has been awarded the Silver Star, two Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart. He's also a former chairman of the Beaufort County Economic Development board, former president of the Sea Island Rotary Club and former chairman of the Beaufort County Military Enhancement Committee.

The primary is March 19.
