Published: February 19, 2013

A single car crash on S.C. 170 has sent two to the hospital.

The crash occured in the eastbound lanes on the highway near Goethe Hill Road at about 4 p.m. Tuesday. A man was ejected from the car, Burton Fire District Lt. Chris Moyer said. A woman was also injured in the crash. Both were taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital.

Moyer said the severity of their injuries was unknown. It is not clear whether the pair were wearing seat belts.

A dog was also ejected from the car. It is not clear whether the dog was hurt, too. Beaufort County Sheriff's deputies weren't able to find the dog.

The cause of the crash is unknown. Moyer said it's possible the car flipped, but when firefighters arrived, the car was upright.

The crash slowed traffic along the highway, but was cleared by about 4:45 p.m. The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating.
