Art auction planned to raise money for Beaufort County teacher grants

Published: February 18, 2013

An art auction planned in Beaufort this week will raise money for public school teacher grants for classroom projects and supplies.

"Artscapade," hosted by the Northern Beaufort County Public Education Foundation, will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the University of South Carolina Beaufort's Center for the Arts on Carteret Street.

The event will feature a variety of artwork -- including watercolors, oil paintings, sculptures, photography and textile art -- on auction starting at $50, as well as wine tastings, according to a news release.

Tickets are $15 and are available at the USCB box office between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and at Bay Street Gallery, 719 Bay St. They will also be sold at the door.

The Northern Beaufort County Public Education Foundation was founded more than 20 years ago. Since last May, 22 northern Beaufort County teachers have earned more than $10,000 in grants.
