A 16-year-old student was charged Tuesday with felony arson for a fire in December at Battery Creek High School.

Beaufort County Sheriff's Office deputies believe Leroy Earvy Prince and a second person, whom they said Tuesday they could not identify, intentionally set a paper-towel holder on fire in a bathroom at about 5:30 p.m. Dec. 21 at the field house near the football field. The fire caused about $4,000 damage, according to Sgt. Robin McIntosh.

Prince was released from the Beaufort County Detention Center on personal recognizance and is being charged as an adult.

McIntosh said more arrests are expected.
