Man robbed, thrown from pickup in Bluffton

Published: February 12, 2013

A 25-year-old man was robbed, choked and pushed from a moving truck at 11 p.m. Monday in Bluffton, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

The man reported that two men had picked him up at a motel on Hilton Head Island in an older-model, red or maroon pickup truck to go for drinks. After he was choked, his wallet and cellphone were stolen, and he was pushed out. The man said he rolled into a ditch and hid until the suspects were gone, then walked west on U.S. 278, according to a news release.

A passerby helped him call the Sheriff's Office. The victim was taken to Hilton Head Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the release said.

Both suspects were described as white, with brown hair, between the ages of 30 and 35, about 5-foot-8, 180 pounds.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC (274-6372).
