Flashing 'school zone' signs installed

Flashing "school zone" signs have been installed on roadsides near Coosa Elementary on Lady's Island and Broad River Elementary in Burton, Beaufort County officials announced Tuesday.

The lights have been programmed to alert motorists the speed limit changes from 45 to 30 mph when children are being dropped off or picked up from school.

The lights will flash between 7:45 and 8:30 a.m. and from 3 to 3:45 p.m. near Coosa Elementary. They will flash between 7:30 and 8:15 a.m. and from 3:15 to 4 p.m. at Broad River Elementary.
