After a break in rain this afternoon, more showers are expected after dark.

This will be the "main event" of rain, and comes with a slight risk of severe weather. Heavy rainfall is expected, and some local areas will see isolated storm cells later tonight and tomorrow.

Monday's cold front remains stalled along the Georgia-Florida state line. A powerful Gulf low pressure system is tracking along that front, catching the polar jet and moving northeast; it will cross north Georgia tonight. The stalled cold front will meet with a warm front moving into our area, causing rain.

We’ll be in the "warm sector" for a while before the final cold front, attached to that powerful low pressure system, swings through late Wednesday. While we're in the warm sector, we will get our heaviest rains. As winds settle down and a break in the showers occurs, be ready for quick-forming fog. The front will eventually move on, and the high pressure system will come in quickly. The dry high pressure system will bring a glancing blow of cold temperatures to us, but a sunny weekend.
