Thank you for making basketball tourney a success

On behalf of the Hilton Head Island High School boys and girls basketball teams, we would like to thank everyone who helped make the 29th annual Seahawk Holiday Classic such a huge success. This three-day basketball tournament involved 16 teams (eight boys and eight girls) from four states. Its success was due to the unselfish efforts of so many in the Hilton Head community.

In particular, we would like to thank the Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort, which again agreed to be our corporate sponsor. This tournament would not be a reality without the generosity of the Omni staff and, in particular, the work of general manager Helen Simmons and Flo Wiggins. In addition, the front-desk personnel and housekeeping staff at the Omni helped make the tournament enjoyable for all who came so far to participate.

Through their tireless efforts, numerous volunteers upgraded the entire atmosphere of the tournament. We want to extend our appreciation to Dave Shervin ATC, Dreyer Physical Therapy Institute, Ron Costello, Shawn Zink, Taylor Bush and Phil Zitello for their tireless efforts to make the tournament such a special event. In addition, Chris Seelbach, Cathy Duane, our ROTC students and parents, as well as our athletic director Joe Monmonier each gave of their time to help make our tournament so special.

It is humbling to be part of a community event that makes everyone on the island proud. Thanks again to all who contributed.
