Northwood Academy 70, Hilton Head Prep 67: After suffering a 16-point loss to Northwood Academy in their first meeting this season, the Hilton Head Prep boys basketball team gave the Chargers a much tougher fight on Saturday in Charleston before eventually falling, 70-67.
The Dolphins trailed by two at halftime, but fell behind by 14 with about three minutes to play in the third quarter. Hilton Head Prep (13-12 overall, 2-8 SCISAA Region 3-AAA) cut the lead to four a couple of times late in the fourth but wasnt able to pull even.
Randy Young had a career-high 25 points to go with 10 rebounds for Prep, and John Eck finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Cole Gardocki added 10 points, and Sam McCracken had eight points and 11 rebounds for the Dolphins, who close the regular season at home Tuesday night against Bible Baptist.
Jay Major scored 25 points to lead Northwood Academy, which finishes second in the region.
