Hilton Head winter resident Rosemary McBee, an entrant in the Hilton Head Island Half Marathon 10K race, was all smiles as she ran the return leg on the Cross Island Parkway on Saturday. It was only two months ago Saturday that she was on the operating table for a hip operation, she said.

Gregory Picklesimer of Newton, Mass., was the winner of the 11th annual Hilton Head Island Half Marathon on Saturday.

The 46-year-old Picklesimer clocked a winning time of 1 hour, 13 minutes and 6 seconds in the race, which carried runners over the Cross Island Bridge. He finished 1 minute, 25 seconds ahead of his nearest challenger, Atlanta teenager Reilly Friedman.

Crissy Ivey, of Pendergrass, Ga., was the women’s winner, finishing 19th overall in a time of 1:27:13.

Hilton Head Island High School standout Jack Manesiotis was the winner of Saturday’s 10-kilometer race, finishing in 34:10 — nearly three minutes faster than his nearest competitor.

Bluffton High School’s Nahuel Coronel won the 5K race, clocking in at 17:51.
