Sightings of a Peeping Tom have been reported on Hilton Head Island's south end, and the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office warns residents and business owners to be on the lookout.

Deputies investigated a report of a man looking at a 13-year-old girl through her bedroom window Wednesday night at Tanglewood Villas in the South Forest Beach neighborhood, according to a news release.

The girl told deputies she saw a man staring at her through the window as she walked into her bedroom from the shower at about 10:30 p.m. Her mother reported that the man ran from the side of the building and jumped over a fence.

Deputies searched the area, but didn't find anyone matching the description.

It was the third Peeping Tom report in as many weeks, and the Sheriff's Office says the suspect's description is the same in each case: a black male between the ages of 20 and 30, about 5-foot-10 and 160 pounds.

On Jan. 24, a man matching that description was seen hiding in the bushes of the courtyard area of Beach Arbor Villas on DeAllyon Avenue. The caller who reported it said the same man had been spotted on several occasions in the area between 6:45 a.m. and 7 a.m., and was concerned he was trying to watch young female tennis students as they got dressed in the morning, the release said.

On Jan. 30, deputies went to the Metropolitan Hotel at 36 South Forest Beach Drive after a 25-year-old female desk clerk reported she saw a man fondling himself outside the window at 1:30 a.m.
