The S.C. Law Enforcement Division is investigating the death of a 64-year-old man who was found dead in his home late Friday.

John H. Swinton was found by a relative at his residence at 108 Deloss Point Road in Ridgeland at 10:45 p.m. He appeared to have been shot once, said SLED spokesman Thom Berry.

The Jasper County Sheriff's Office requested SLED's assistance. SLED is leading the investigation.

An autopsy was performed at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, Berry said.

There are no suspects identified at this time, Berry said.
