Sanford, Turner slated for 1st Congressional District forum in Beaufort Monday

Former Gov. Mark Sanford and Teddy Turner, son of media mogul and liberal Ted Turner, share a stage Monday night as part of a forum for First Congressional District candidates.

The forum will begin at 6 p.m. at the auditorium in Building 12 of the Technical College of the Lowcountry, 921 Ribaut Road, Beaufort.

Each candidate will have an hour to introduce themselves and answer questions from the public. Sanford will be on stage from 6 to 7 p.m.; Turner will be on stage from 7 to 8 p.m.

The forums are organized by state Rep. Shannon Erickson, R-Beaufort, and run through March. They are open to all candidates, regardless of party affiliation, though currently only Republicans are scheduled.

Other upcoming town halls include:

  • Thursday: Sheriff Ray Nash at 6 p.m.; Jeffrey King at 7 p.m.
  • Feb. 11: Councilman Curtis Bostic at 6 p.m.; Sen. John Kuhn at 7 p.m.
  • Feb. 21: Shawn Pinkston at 6 p.m.; Sen. Larry Grooms at 7 p.m.
  • Feb 25: Ric Bryant at 6 p.m.; Tim Larkin at 7 p.m.
  • Feb. 28: To be announced
  • March 4: Keith Blandford at 6 p.m.; Peter McCoy at 7 p.m.
  • March 7: Rep. Andy Patrick at 6 p.m.; Jonathan Hoffman at 7 p.m.
