Retreat for military wives seeks donations

info@islandpacket.comFebruary 3, 2013

A military wife from Atlanta knows what other military wives need -- a chance to relax.

Precious Goodson -- who has taken care of her husband, Sgt. Leonard Goodson, since he suffered neck and back injuries in Afghanistan during a U.S. Army National Guard deployment -- and a small team of other wives in the same situation have organized a caregivers' getaway at Palm Key Nature Retreat in Ridgeland.

The retreat will be March 1 to 5 and is being sponsored by The Independence Fund, a nonprofit organization. The group seeks donations of gifts and services -- such as pedicures, manicures, massages, bath products or music CDs -- for retreat guests.
