The Beaufort County Board of Education's Superintendent Search Committee will meet at 11 a.m. Friday to plan and prepare for superintendent candidate interviews.

A pool of 100 applicants has been winnowed to seven semi-finalists. Interviews with those seven candidates will begin next week. A new superintendent could be hired as soon as next month.

Former superintendent Valerie Truesdale left in October for a job in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District in North Carolina. Interim superintendent Jackie Rosswurm has led the district since then.

Friday's meeting, which is expected to last an hour, will be at the Beaufort-Jasper Academy for Career Excellence, 80 Lowcountry Drive in Ridgeland.
