Wreck on Hilton Head bridge stalled morning traffic

A wreck on eastbound U.S. 278 on the bridge to Hilton Head Island stalled traffic this morning.

Eyewitnesses said traffic was at one point backed up to the Tanger outlets, about two miles from the site of the accident.

According to the Beaufort County Emergency Dispatch's Twitter account, the wreck has been cleared and all lanes of traffic were open as of about 9 a.m. Emergency dispatch also tweeted that it was a multi-car accident.
