Car break-ins reported at Heritage Lakes

Published: January 30, 2013

Eight vehicles in the Heritage Lakes neighborhood of Bluffton were broken into between Jan. 26 and Jan. 27, with small electronic devices stolen from some of them, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

The vehicles had been left unlocked, and there were no signs of forced entry on any of them, a news release said.

Some of the cars appeared to have been rummaged through; a camera, an iPod and a GPS device were stolen from others.

Investigators are working on identifying a suspect from home video surveillance footage provided by one of the victims. The video shows someone pulling on the door handle of the victim's vehicle.

Anyone with information about the break-ins can call Cpl. W. Conant at 843-255-3424.
