Woman who died in car fire Tuesday identified

Officials have released the name of the woman who died in a car fire early Tuesday morning in Bluffton.

Amanda Ryan, 33, of Bluffton died of smoke inhalation, according to Deputy Beaufort County Coroner David Ott.

A Honda Civic was engulfed in flames near the highway's intersection with Big Bluff Road when firefighters arrived at about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, Bluffton Township Fire District Battalion Chief Todd Harvey said.

The woman's body was found in the driver's seat after the fire was extinguished, Harvey said.
