Retreat for military wives needs donations

Published: January 28, 2013

A military wife from Atlanta knows what other military wives need: an opportunity to de-stress.

Precious Goodson -- who has taken care of her husband Sgt. Leonard Goodson since he suffered neck and back injuries in Afghanistan during a U.S. Army National Guard deployment -- and a small team of other wives in the same situation have organized a caregivers' retreat at Palm Key Nature Retreat in Ridgeland from March 1 through 5. The retreat is being sponsored by the nonprofit organization The Independence Fund.

The group seeks donations of gifts and services -- such as pedicures, manicures, massages, bath products or music CDs -- for retreat guests.
